Dance Nova

Dance Nova Incorporated is a non-profitable organisation specialising in educational workshops nation-wide.

The Company was established in 1986 and it has always promoted an appreciation, understanding and enjoyment of the art of dance to school students, teachers and general audience.

Today, Dance Nova has participated in 38 tours in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and Tasmania, and has presented its quality work to audiences of all ages. During this time the Company was not only engaged in performing and workshopping, but also organising or assisting other organisations to set up some of these tours.

Dance Nova has also performed and workshopped numerously for International Dance Institute, Ausdance, University of NSW, University of Western Sydney (including lecturing), all Australian Arts Councils and various state and regional festivals around the country. In 1988 Dance Nova was involved in the setting up of the Bicentennial Tour ‘Dance on the Move’ for the New South Wales Bicentennial Committee.

During the following year, Dance Nova was involved in the production of a half-hour SBS television documentary ‘Message from Poland’ part of the Australian Mosaic series,that showed the company touring Queensland.

Dance Nova's main objectives are:

• To provide young people with possibilities to broaden their
   awareness and to amplify their enjoyment of all forms of dance
   including ballet, folk, character, contemporary, creative dance
   and pantomime.
• To contribute in an enhancement of greater tolerance towards
   others by exposing the diverse communities in Australia to young
   people, thus creating awareness to the cultural wealth from
   around the world that is present in Australia.

For many years the Company believed in the importance of working with young people and providing them with quality dance performances and workshops. That is why Dance Nova is proud of being able to shape the country's future audience, as well as promoting one of Australia’s icons - Australian Cultural Diversity.
