Dancing has been an extensive human activity in most cultures for thousands of years. People have always danced in their own diverse way to express their feelings and experiences, as well as distinguishing their cultural identity.
Dance Nova’s workshops aim to positively shape the minds of Australia’s youth towards dance participation and support. That is why the Company has always aimed at achieving top results in preparing and training future Australian dance followers by exposing them to an assortment of professional, educational and entertaining dance programs.
All of the workshops cover many criteria of dance education and allow young people to experience working with professional artists. Besides dance, the activities in the workshop also contribute to learning in literacy, numeracy and life skills, and can be used for gathering evidence about students’ development in these cross-curricular priorities.
Dance Nova’s workshop will;
• Develop students’ personal aesthetic
• Engage young participants with ideas, topics, metaphors,
experiences and possibilities
• Help develop students’ arts practice and knowledge base
• Provide sophisticated role modelling for artistic practice when
participating and reflecting upon workshop
• Creates shared experiences for your class to build community
(‘Remember when we....’)
The learning also includes speaking and listening, writing, representing and structuring ideas. Each workshop also has a strong component on the awareness of time, space and spatial relationship, as well as identifying and making use of dance patterns and sequences.
Moreover, research is teaching us that one of the essential ways to learn is through kinaesthetic (body) intelligence. Dance Nova embraces this concept in all its workshops by combining kinaesthetic learning with emotional involvement, which makes it a very powerful educational medium.
Teachers' participation during our workshops is strongly recommended but not compulsory. However, by participating in the workshop, teachers will enhance their future ability in demonstrating steps to students as well as learning different dance teaching techniques.
